Background and Service
Born in Haifa in 1938, Amiram was one of the founders of Kibbutz Nir Oz (he moved there in 1957) and remained deeply committed to its development throughout his life.
Profession & creativity
A respected economist, he served as chief economist for the Ma’on settlements. Beyond his work, Amiram was also a prolific poet and composer, authoring three books of poetry and a children’s book; he often crafted personalized rhymes and verse for family events.
Family man
Husband to Nurit and father to three children, with nine grandchildren. He was known as a romantic and warm grandfather—the kind who would compose songs and poems for birthdays and family milestones.
Personality & values
Described by his son Rotem as a “man of ideas”—romantic, poetic, rooted in kibbutz values. His deep mission was building and nurturing the community and land of the Western Negev.
Capture & legacy
Abducted along with his wife on October 7, 2023. After his wife’s release, he appeared in a December hostage video before the IDF confirmed his death in Hamas captivity in June 2024.
