Tamir Adar

תמיר בן משה

Age: 38

Early life & background

Born and raised in the kibbutz of Nir Oz, Tamir was a third‑generation resident deeply connected to the land and its people. After completing his education, he worked in youth development with the Ramon Foundation—promoting science, aviation, and personal growth in local schools—and later fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming a farmer on the kibbutz.

Family & community

Tamir was married to Hadas, with whom he shared two young children: Asaf (7) and Neta (3). Known as a devoted family man, devoted Maccabi Tel Aviv supporter, and natural leader, he was cherished for his warmth, love for nature, and ability to inspire others.

Defense & abduction

On October 7, 2023, as Hamas terrorists launched a brutal raid on Nir Oz, Tamir joined the kibbutz’s emergency squad. Before departing, he urged his wife and children to lock themselves in the safe room, even if they heard his knock. During fierce fighting that morning, Tamir was tragically killed, and his body was kidnapped into Gaza. His 85‑year‑old grandmother,
Yaffa Adar, was also abducted and later released
after 49 days.

Final confirmation

On January 5, 2024, Kibbutz Nir Oz officially confirmed his death. His body remains in Gaza, and the community continues to express profound solidarity with his memory.

Legacy & remembrance

Tamir is remembered as a courageous protector, an educator who touched countless young lives, and a farmer who loved his home. His family’s efforts to bring him back to Nir Oz for burial reflaect the deep respect and love he held from his community. His life embodied values of responsibility, bravery, inspiration, and unwavering community spirit.
