Rom Braslavski
רום בן תמר נועה
Age: 19 21
Background & Family
A Jerusalem resident and off-duty soldier, Rom was working as a security guard at the Nova/Supernova music festival near Kibbutz Re’im on October 7, 2023 — the day of the Hamas attack.
Heroism Amid Chaos
Witnesses say he remained behind to help wounded festival-goers, moving bodies to prevent further abductions. Despite suffering wounds to both hands, he continued assisting others until he was captured.
Captivity & Proof of Life
Held by Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza, he appeared in a proof-of-life video released on April 16, 2025 — the first evidence he was alive after over 550 days. In the video, he appealed to Israeli leadership and then U.S. President Trump, expressing severe physical and mental suffering.
Family’s Plea
His parents—Tami and Ofir—have described their deep anguish. Ofir said his family “can’t suffer like this anymore” and emphasized Rom’s heroism and the need to bring him home.
